جمع الاسماء في اللغة الانكليزية :
جميع الاسماء تجمع باضفة الى نهايتها
(S) for example a book books .
ماعدا الاسماء التي تنتهي بالاتي
( Ch, sh, o, s, ss, z ) it take (es) in plural form for example :
A watch watches
One bus , three buses.
One match , many matches.
One dish, many dishes.
Y ويسبقها حرف ساكن تحذف ويضاف الى نهايتها
(ies) for example: a country countries, a city cities, one baby many babies,
One lady two ladies.
Y يسبقها حرف متحرك لا تحذف فقط يضاف لنهايتها
(s) for example :a boy – boys, a toy – toys, a day – days .
الكلمات التي تنتهي نهايتها ب
F we change (f) to ( ves) in plural form , for example
A Wife – wives, a knife – knives, a loaf- loaves, calf – calves , half- halves, leaf – leaves, shelf – shelves, thief – thieves.
هناك أسماء شاذة في جمعها يجب الانتباه أليها وهي على سبيل المثال:
A man – men, a woman- women, a policeman – policemen, a mouse- mice,
A louse – lice , a goose – geese, a child – children , a tooth – teeth, a foot –feet, an ox – oxes, a dormouse – dormice.
ملاحظة : أن هناك أسماء لا تجمع وتبقى كما هي في كلا الحالتين المفرد والجمع لاحظ الكلمات التالية على سبيل المثال:
One sheep many sheep .
A deer – deer, a fish – fish.
Many تستخدم مع الاسماء التي يمكن عدها على سبيل المثال
Many people
Much تستخدم مع الاسماء التي لا تعد ولا تحصى على سبيل المثال
Much sugar, much difficulty …..ect.
